You gave your usual outstanding performance with so many of our
favorite songs. The music, the words, the harmonies, the power of
each of your personalities added so much to our gathering.
We truly did feel honored. Thank you all so much for being part of
our first annual year end honoring event.
-- Betsy Allis, President Association of Universalist Women
of First Universalist Church,

"A crowd of 500 does not daunt the enthusiasm of Spices, nor does
a 7:15 a.m. singing engagement. When the group performed at
a breakfast for U.S. Congressional candiate, Ember Reichgott Junge,
at the Convention Center in August 2006, the audience listened with
rapt attention.
Spices performs a cappella, highlighting their
naturally pure and soulful voices. I find their music to be healing
and hopeful while it also reminds, oh, so gently, of the gravest
transgressions of our species -- of how far we can fall. Their music
is at once modern and mysteriously ancient -- primal in some way.
It reminds me that we are one people, and that we must rise up
against the injustices of this world together. It asks me to live
as best I can, and as kindly as I can. Each time I hear Spices sing,
I find that their music lifts me up. It motivates me to do my little
part in helping to heal this wounded world."

"Thank you very much for coming and performing for our SEED group.
I really appreciate how you are using music to build an intentional
community around diversity and it was amazing how the power of your
music was a way for all of us to connect with one another as a community
tonight.
Your music not only connected us on an emotional level, but
the words in your music challenge us to think about our global
community and how our actions impact other people and the environment.
Listening to the words in the songs allowed me to reflect on my own
values and beliefs and think about if my actions are matching those
values and beliefs. It was an honor for us to have you here tonight.
Your music is both beautiful and inspiring."
-- Kevin McGee, SEED
"AWESOME!!! Not to be missed -- Spices voices create the most beautiful
music! I go out of my way to hear them and hope a CD will be coming
out soon."
-- Nora Whiteman, Minneapolis
"I have been familiar with the work of "Spices" for several years
now and can unhesitatingly report that they represent some of the
finest small group acapella groups I have heard. They are well
rehearsed and their arrangements are frequently contrapuntally
complex yet ingratiating to the ear. I can recommend them highly
as a distinct musical presence."
-- John Jensen, Music Director,
First Universalist Church of Minneapolis
